Coach Lumio earned his B.S. degree from the University of Miami in 1992. Coach Lumio was a member of the Hurricanes Men Track and Field team where he set 3 school records. He earned his Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist certification from the NSCA in 1994. Coach Lumio was the track and field coach at Neshaminy High School for 17 years, and Maple Point Middle School for three seasons. He coached well over 100 athletes to the Pennsylvania Indoor and Outdoor Track and Field Championships. “Our speed development program aims to integrate the training technics used in track and field to make our athletes faster and more agile for a changing game.”
As young athletes participate in athletics we aim to teach them the technique of proper running within their sport. Many sports and coaches take running for granted, but the truth is that running is a skill like any other. Running needs to be coached and refined to achieve top speeds. Our Introductory program will teach young athletes proper running/sprinting technique, balance and coordination through agility training. It is our goal to teach these critical athletic movements to allow young athletes to reduce the risk of musculoskeletal injury, improve performance and self-esteem.
Building on the fundamentals developed in the Introductory Program, in the Intermediate Program athletes will work to develop increases in acceleration, maximum velocity, maintaining speed through changes in direction, and agility. We aim to develop and foster proper movement techniques with increased force production lead to maximized speed output. The intermediate program will focus heavily on flexibility to increase the range of useable motion, and injury prevention.
Building on the foundations developed in the previous programs, the Advanced Program is designed to optimize the athletes speed and agility skills. We will identify areas of need, and work to correct those deficits to produce the best athlete possible. The Advanced Program will focus on Acceleration, maximum velocity, change of direction, and flexibility. Training in the Advanced Program will be under increased loads, and produce higher power output of the athletes. We will create agility and speed applications that will be seen during competition, so the athlete is ready for any scenario.
